Meredith inauguration June 12

Thomas MeredithAn inauguration ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. for the new chancellor of the University System of Georgia, Thomas C. Meredith. The inauguration will take place in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Georgia State Capitol. A reception will follow in the
Capitol Rotunda at 3:30 p.m.

The formal ceremony will feature a processional, remarks from Gov. Roy E. Barnes, greetings from the presidents, faculty, staff and students of the University System, an investiture and the presentation of a special medallion to the chancellor, the chancellor's inaugural address, and a recessional.

Regent Hilton H. Howell Jr., chair of the Board of Regents, will preside. In addition to members of the Board of Regents, presidents and representative faculty of the University System, the staff of the University System Office, and a number of invited guests and higher-education delegates will attend the event.
