Groundbreaking scheduled The program will feature Regent J. Timothy Shelnut, Sen. Charles Walker, Pres. William A. Bloodworth, Jr., and professor Kathy Hamrick, special assistant to the president for academic and master planning. The contractor for the 112,000-square-foot building is Evergreen Construction of Atlanta. Hinman Architectural Group of Augusta is the primary architect for the project in association with Jova/Daniels/Busby of Atlanta. The building will house the College of Education, the Department
of Nursing, the Writing Center, the Telecommunications Center, Computer Services,
and Media Services. It will have 29 classrooms, two computer labs, student
study areas, a two-story television studio, and a large As part of the $21.7 million project, the Walton Way entrance
to campus will be realigned with Fleming Avenue, and the six classroom buildings
will be demolished.
