ASU Staff Advisory Council Report

The First Annual Staff Forum was held on Monday, May 13, and was a success thanks to all who attended. A special thanks goes to the panelists, Dr. Bloodworth, Dr. Barnabei, Dr. Jones and Dr. Bompart. Over 100 staff members were present, and the response to this forum was great. At this forum, the Council kicked off their “THERE IS NO ASU WITHOUT U!” campaign that was developed to let the staff know that they are one of the reasons ASU is such a great place to be. Several door prizes were given out. "Congratulations to those winners! said Patty Waggy. “Thanks again to all who attended and we are looking forward to next year,” she added.

Information about elections for the 2002-2003 Staff Advisory Council will be going to each staff member within the next few weeks. Please take time to read and complete the ballot. If you have any questions, please call your council representative. As stated in the council’s bylaws, the purpose of the council is “to act as a liaison between the Augusta State University staff; to advance professional growth; to promote social responsibility and demonstrate concern for all members of the Augusta State University community; and to act as an advocate for the Augusta State University staff by bringing their concerns to the attention of the appropriate body and following through to resolution”. Each council member is proud to represent our staff, and we are truly here for you!

Once again the SAC will sponsor a Back to School Supply Drive during July. All supplies and contributions will be donated to Augusta Child Advocates, Inc. “Each year the ASU Family donates more and more to this event and it really makes a difference for the children who receive the supplies. Many of these children would not have the needed supplies for school if not for this drive. Thanks for all your contributions!” says Patty Waggy. There will also be a decoration contest for the collection bins. In the past years this has been fun and creative for the staff to do. The bins really do have a lot of thought and work put into them. E-mails and flyers for this supply drive will be sent out soon.

If there are items that staff members would like to be included in the next issue of the ASU Report please submit them to Patty Waggy on behalf of the council. These could be campus or community accomplishments that you would like to share.
