ASU integrates old with new in logo designs
A new university logo was adopted in May, replacing one designed in 1996 when
a change in nomenclature brought about a change in the logo. The new design incorporates
the square "tree" element that was part of the Augusta College logo.
The oak, symbolic of the roots that the university has in the Augusta community,
has been the basis of the logo since the mid-80s. The logo was changed, in part,
because of the difficulties in reproducing it in print. Different versions of
the present logo were presented at meetings of the faculty and the president's
cabinet before a final design was selected. Kim Smith, publications coordinator,
designed the new logo.
