Final inspection of University Hall is scheduled for Friday, June 4. "We hope that the building can be turned over to us at that time," says Therese Rosier, director of physical plant. "That would mean that we can proceed with the campus moves as scheduled, and that the front entrance and parking lot adjacent to the building can be reopened," she says.

Construction work on the parking lot behind the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre is nearly complete too, she says. The loop road and the lot are scheduled for paving, beginning June 14. "That would place the lot being turned over to us around July 1," says Ms. Rosier.

Moving dates have been given to those involved in the move to University Hall, and all moves are expected to be complete by August 11. The general outline of scheduled events, as reported last month, are as follows:

Early June - Preliminary groundwork around Markert
June 1 - Underground structure excavation
June 10 - Advertise for Classroom Building Demolition and Remediation Project
June 17 - Pre-Bid Meeting with contractors. ASU to have completed all salvage efforts in unoccupied buildings and “tagged” items for salvage in occupied buildings.
July 1 - Bid Opening and award of “notice of intent” to apparent low bidder for demolition

Parking # 6, next to Skinner and Markert Halls will temporarily close. Area will be used to house equipment and materials for the demolition. The area will be roped off and access will be limited. Foot traffic from the lower lots will be along the pathway in front of the new CETC building and the swimming pool.

Bomford Road, from the Katherine Street entrance, will be blocked at the entry into the current faculty library lot.

August 1 - Begin removal of flooring in the unoccupied buildings
August 11 - Moves will have been completed into University Hall
August 16 - Begin Environmental Demolition (Exterior - Roof) – this will involve removal of the 4-in. thick concrete roof panels. Each panel weighs approximately 1,200 lbs. A crane will be used to remove the panels.
August 26 - Begin Building Demolition (Markert / Science / Hardy)
October 1 - Preliminary construction activities begin on the Student Center. The faculty parking lot beside the library will close, and the area will be used by the contractors as a construction “laydown” area.
November 15 - Construction begins on Student Center– Hardy, Markert, and Science Buildings--demolitions are completed.
