EIP and TAP programs offer employees educational benefits

Deadlines have been announced to apply for two programs employees may use to further their education. The deadline to apply to receive Employee Incentive Program funds for fall semester is June 1. Tuition Assistance Program applications will be accepted until July 15.

Any regular, benefit-eligible, ASU employee with a work commitment of 50 percent or more and employment tenure of at least one year by the university’s first day of class on August 22 may apply for fall semester EIP funds. An employee who receives a scholarship or a need-based financial aid award is eligible for an EIP tuition grant only to defray that part of the tuition that is not covered by the financial aid package.

Applications, available under “forms” on the Personnel Office web site, will be accepted in the Personnel Office beginning May 24. Applications must be received in the Personnel Office by 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 1. Applicants will be notified no later than Friday, June 3.

To be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program, you must be a full-time employee of ASU, have been employed for six months, and be benefits eligible. Under the TAP program, you will be eligible for up to eight academic semester credit hours. The TAP policy and application can be found online at www.usg.edu/employment/benefits/tuition/index.phtml. Please read the policy before completing the application.  Unlike the EIP, there are several steps that must be completed before the application can be processed.  For undergraduate studies, applicants should check with Financial Aid about completing the FAFSA application.
