ASU honors Blanchard and Connell

A longtime supporter and alumnus of ASU has been presented the university’s highest honor. Dr. Russell A. Blanchard, class of ’28 and former president of Georgia Railroad Bank, was presented the President’s Award by Dr. William A. Bloodworth at the annual President’s Club Reception, held in May at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Harold S. Engler.

Also at the reception, a $50,000 scholarship endowment was announced that honors former State Representative Jack Connell. Established by his friends and family, the endowment will fund scholarships for non-traditional students who want to return to college. A tangible reminder of the endowment—a bench marker on the university’s History Walk—has been placed there to honor Rep. Connell.
