Student retention will be Customer Service Champion’s initial focus
Addressing student retention will be the initial focus for Augusta State’s new Customer Service Champion.
Joseph D. Greene, the Cree-Walker Professor of Business Administration at ASU, was recently named the university’s Customer Service Champion.
“He will bring to the role his years of experience on our faculty, his prior service on the Board of Regents, and his genuine interest in helping us to improve all of our services,” says President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., in announcing the appointment.
The appointment comes in response to a directive from Governor Sonny Perdue requiring all state agencies and offices to improve customer service.
While Mr. Greene has several ideas on ways that the university can improve customer service, he says his primary focus is to develop an improvement plan.
“I met with customer service ambassadors on campus, and we agreed collectively that we want to address student retention as our initial project,” says Mr. Greene. “Gov. Perdue has requested that all plans submitted from each university show that they are results-oriented and customer-focused, and we will be developing action plans.”
Mr. Greene and his ambassadors will work on developing a campus-wide orientation to emphasize the importance of customer service.
Mr. Greene is the author of two books, From Cotton Fields to Board Rooms and Money Matters.
He serves as the president of the Rotary Club of Augusta and as president of Greene Financial Group. He was recently named chair of the board of directors of the Healthcare Georgia Foundation. He also sits on the boards of First Bank of Georgia, Healthcare Georgia Foundation, St. Joseph Hospital, the CSRA Community Foundation, the Georgia Council on Economic Education, and the National Science Center Discovery.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Augusta State University and a master’s degree from the University of Georgia.
