New acting director of Human Resources named

Walt AlexandersonWalt Alexanderson, former director of Human Resources for Thermal Ceramics USA, has been named acting director of Human Resources at Augusta State University, effective May 15.

“Mr. Alexanderson is a proven leader with a wealth of human resource and operations management experience,” says Dan Whitfield, vice president for business operations. “His personal energy and vision make him a great asset to ASU, and I am happy to have him on our team.”

Before coming to Augusta State, Mr. Alexanderson, a 1978 alumnus of the university, worked at Thermal Ceramics USA for 16 years. He was responsible for all human resource activities at five manufacturing locations and a sales organization.

Mr. Alexanderson holds two U.S. Patents. He is a 1991 alumnus of Leadership Augusta and past president of the Augusta Rotary Club. Mr. Alexanderson is also a member of the Summerville Neighborhood Association, Historic Augusta, the Augusta Genealogical Society, the American Ceramic Society, the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Keramos Ceramic Engineering Academic Fraternity, among others.

He was elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in 1978 and is a recipient of the Knight of St. Patrick Ceramic Engineering Award.

Mr. Alexanderson earned a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering from the State University of New York and a master’s degree in business administration from Augusta State.
