Bill and Betty Sherrill, friends and alumna of Augusta State, were presented the university’s highest honor on May 11 at the annual President’s Club Reception. President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., presented Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill with the award.

“The Sherrills have been longtime friends of Augusta State, and their support of the university has made it possible for many students who completed their athletic eligibility to also complete their degrees,” says President Bloodworth.

Mr. Sherrill, president of Norvell Fixture and Equipment Company, and Mrs. Sherrill, a 1951 alumna, have been involved with the university for many years. In 1996, they established the William and Elizabeth Sherrill Scholarship, which is given to ASU athletes who have completed their eligibility and want to finish their education. Forty-eight athletes have benefited from their generosity. Both are also members of the President’s Club and the Jaguar Club.

The President’s Award is given to individuals who display service, dedication, and leadership to the university.
