Study Abroad Programs
Greece

Greece, Spain, England, Russia, and Australia. These are the countries that more than 110 Augusta State University students will visit as part of summer study abroad programs. This is the largest group of ASU students to ever participate in the summer program, according to Holly Carter, director of the Europe Down Under and the European Council's Paris program.

"When I came to ASU there were only 15 to 20 students who participated in study abroad. In the three years that I have been here, it has dramatically increased," she says.

Dr. Carter and students will travel to Australia with faculty members Kimberly Davies and Lorraine Evans, sociology; Donna Wear, biology; and Mark Brown and Mary Filpus-Luyckx, special projects office.

"This is the first time that we will be offering a program across every school. This is the most comprehensive study abroad program from ASU," she says.

Other summer study abroad programs that are being offered include ones to Salamanca, Spain, directed by Jana Sandarg, languages, literature and communications; Greece, directed by Christos Bourdouvalis, political science; and London, directed by Mark Brown, special projects. Wendy Turner, history, and Karen Aubrey and Mary-Kathleen Blanchard, languages, literature, and communications, will be teaching courses in the study abroad program.
