Staff Spotlight: Eddie Madison

Although he is reluctant to talk about or name them, Eddie Madison has friends in high places. The computer support specialist in Information Technology Services takes four or five trips a year to professional football games to visit some close friends in the NFL—so it’s no wonder the sport is his favorite to watch.

“We played football together in high school at Silver Bluff,” says Mr. Madison. “During my downtime, visiting them and watching the games is what I like to do.”

Not only did the North Augusta native play football in high school, but he also became interested in computers, specifically their functionality. Shortly after graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in computer information systems, Mr. Madison began working at Savannah River Site as a computer support specialist.

He worked there for three years before joining Augusta State University in 2000. His lengthy list of responsibilities includes assisting the campus with computer-related problems, managing the department’s six student assistants, teaching the targeted announcements portion of Pipeline to department representatives, teaching the information technology part of ASU’s orientation classes, and maintaining Remedy, which is the university’s database that logs in work requests for computer problems. Mr. Madison also serves as one of the administrators of Web CT/Vista and the Pharos printing software.

“I really enjoy working at Augusta State,” he says. “What I love most about my job is helping people.”

In his spare time, Mr. Madison enjoys working out and watching football.
