Students present research at conference

Phi Kappa Phi logoStudent presentations at Augusta State's Ninth Annual Student Research and Fine Arts Conference will cover a vast array of topics on Wednesday, March 12. This year, 81 students will participate in the event sponsored by ASU's Chapter of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. That number is up from 56 participants last year.

The conference will kick off in 170 University Hall with an 11 a.m. keynote address from Stewart Schneller—a professor in Auburn University's Department of Chemistry and Bio-chemistry—titled Ebola Viral Infections: History and an Approach to Therapy. Poster presentations will take place 12-12:30 p.m. in Science Hall.

At 12:30 p.m., President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Sam Sullivan will present opening remarks, followed by fine arts presentations. Students will present original research during two separate sessions, 1-2:15 p.m. and 2:30-3:45 p.m., in various Science Hall rooms.

The conference is a medium for ASU students to display their scholarly and artistic accomplishments. Paper topic categories include Homeland Security, Novels and Newspapers, Women Then and Now, Environmental and Human Health, Of War and Water, Biological Identities, Politics and Poetry, and Methods of Investigation.

For more information about this year's conference, call Paul Harris in the Department of Political Science at 737-1710.
