Pair named All-Academic Cross Country
JaguarTwo members of Augusta State’s cross country team were recently named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team. ASU sophomores Kara Kreutzer and Kaci McCane were just two of four Peach Belt Conference student-athletes to earn the honor.

Lady Jags remain in rankings
ASU’s women’s basketball team remains in the top 10 on the South Atlantic Region poll. The Lady Jags have won seven of their last nine games, through Feb. 20.

Madgen named player of the week
Augusta State’s Ben Madgen was recently named the Peach Belt Conference Player-of-the-Week in basketball for the second time this season. The 6-4 sophomore guard/forward also earned the award on Dec. 17, 2007. The honor is the fifth of the season for the Jaguar squad. Senior forward AJ Bowman is a two-time winner, and junior center Garret Siler was the PBC’s first honoree. Madgen averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in a pair of wins for the Jaguars while hitting half of his three-point attempts.

Jags continue winning
The ASU men’s basketball team continued to win in February, scoring seven straight wins through Feb. 20. The Jaguars are ranked in the top 10 in national Division II polls and continue to hold the top spot in the South Atlantic Region poll.

Softball team begins with a bang
ASU’s softball team began the season on a strong note, posting a 9-1 record through Feb. 20, which included going undefeated in tournaments in Aiken, SC, and Carrolton, GA. The team is 1-1 so far in the Peach Belt.

Diamond Jags start with winning record
Through Feb. 20, the ASU baseball team has posted a 7-6 record, splitting double headers with Carson-Newman and Valdosta State. The Diamond Jaguars have yet to play a conference game.

Netters post positive records
ASU’s women’s tennis team posted a 3-1 record in spring competition through Feb. 20. The men’s team is 4-2 through the same period.
