Thirty-nine nursing students to receive pins

ASU nursing

Thirty-nine nursing students from ASU will help ease the nursing shortage as they receive their pins at the university’s Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony Friday, May 14, at 7 p.m., at the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.

“Some students value the pinning ceremony more than graduation because it’s the last time the students will be together as a class,” says Dr. Charlotte Price, chair of the Department of Nursing. “It’s a time for reflection as well as a time to look into the future.”

Roxanne Patterson, a graduate of ASU who earned a nursing degree in 1994, will be the guest speaker. The students will follow tradition and recite the Nightingale Pledge, an oath vowing that they will dedicate themselves to the nursing profession. For more information, contact Dr. Price at 737-1725.
