The first ICAPP class of nursing students in ASU’s nursing program graduated in December 2004 with a 100 percent passing rate on the NCLEX-RN exam. The exam is the final step in a long process for nursing students once they finish a certified nursing program. ASU’s Department of Nursing’s LPN to RN transition program is fully supported through the University of System of Georgia’s Intellectual Capital Partnership Program (ICAPP).
“The 100 percent pass rate of our first group of ICAPP accelerated LPN to RN graduates reaffirms for us that this program is a realistic and awonderful opportunity for qualified licensed practical nurses who are willing to take on the challenge,” says Dr. Charlotte Price, chair of the Department of Nursing. “Their success rate on the NCLEX RN proves that these students can successfully achieve their dreams and become registered nurses in a calendar year.” The nursing department at Augusta State provides students with the ability to think critically about actual or potential patient care problems, to manage and coordinate patient care to intervene in problems, and to demonstrate caring behaviors toward patients while practicing within the legal and ethical scope of professional nursing practice.
