PKP Symposium to discuss Inspired Learning

Inspired Learning will be the topic of a panel discussion hosted by ASU’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi on Thursday, April 19, from 3-4:15 p.m. in W1002 Science Building. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

Debra van Tuyll, associate professor of communications in the Department of Communications and Professional Writing, will present Socialization for Social Responsibility.

She says that she will discuss the Firefighter's Scholarship project and how it was used to teach public relations students about social responsibility and how public relations is more than just advocacy for clients.

Saundra Reinke, MPA director and associate professor of public administration in the Department of Political Science, will present Opening Hearts and Minds: Using Research to Connect Students to Our Community in which she will discuss how to structure and set up qualitative research projects that allow students to be exposed to communities they wouldn’t otherwise encounter.

Dr. Reinke is one of five new Phi Kappa Phi faculty and alumnus inductees. She, along with Joyce Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students in the Office of Student Services and Dean of Students; Kim Davies, chair and associate professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work; Sudha Ratan, chair and professor of political science in the Department of Political Science; and Wesley Zamzow, coordinator of alumni relations in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations; were inducted into ASU’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in a ceremony on March 16.
