Barbara Stewart receives Staff Excellence award for Spring '07

“I can’t think of an instance when I have been more surprised,” says Barbara Stewart, accounts receivable manager in the Business Office, after receiving the Staff Excellence award for spring '07.

Ms. Stewart, an ASU employee since 1987, was nominated for the award by several people in the Business Office. “I would really like to express my appreciation in working with Angela, Dan, and those in the Business Office,” she says.

Ms. Stewart, an alumna of ASU, has served in the Business Office for 20 years, starting out as a receptionist/clerk and working her way up to her current position. As the accounts receivable manager, she is responsible for overseeing tuition payments, reconciliations, and making sure that the cash procedures for the university are followed.

With plans to retire in 2008, Ms. Stewart says that she is looking forward to traveling with her husband. The mother of two and grandmother of five enjoys gardening, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
