Dr. Sandy Reinke, Political Science, co-authored
a paper with Dr. Randy Miller, Political Science,
titled It's Not What You Know, It's Who You Know: The
Connection Between Ethical Leadership, Merit Pay and Performance Appraisal
which was delivered at the 2003 Southeastern Conference for Public Administration
(SECoPA) Annual Meeting held in Savannah, October 12 - 14th.
Ms. Marion Cantrell and Ms.
Tammy Jackson, MPA Graduate Students co-authored Punch
vs. Touch: A Comparative Study of Voting Technology which was delivered
at the 2003 Southeastern Conference for Public Administration (SECoPA) Annual
Meeting held in Savannah, October 12-14th.
Dr. Paul Harris, Political Science, co-authored
a paper with Dr. Bill Baker, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Kennesaw
State University titled New Challenges to Devolution:
Interstate Compacts and Their Effects on Water Resource Distribution which
was delivered at the 2003 Southeastern Conference for Public Administration (SECoPA)
Annual Meeting held in Savannah, October 12-14th. Dr. Harris wrote a guest editorial
on U.S. - German relations which was published in The
Augusta Chronicle, The State:South Carolina's
Newspaper and The Stars & Stripes. He also
delivered the key-note address on the Russian Jewish Diaspora in the U.S. and
Germany at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European Jewish Studies in Potsdam,
Germany, in June of this year.
Dr. Sudha Ratan, Political Science, represented
the MPA Program at the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and
Administration Annual Meeting held in Pittsburgh, PA., October 16-19th.
Pamela Hayward,
Languages, Literature, and Communications, was named secretary-elect of
the Georgia Communication Association.
Fine arts faculty Nina Benedetto, Kristin
Casaletto, Dorothy Eckmann, Priscilla
Hollingsworth, David Mascaro, Philip
Morsberger, Tom Nakashima, Jennifer
Onofrio Fornes, Brian Rust, Susan
Senn-Davis, Dianne Sweet, Jeffrey
Harris and Janice Williams Whiting will
have an exhibit titled Of Art and Artists on
display at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art from November 4-25. Reception
will be held for the artists on November 7th from 6-8.
Carnell Beard, physical plant, was recently named
employee of the quarter. He is in charge of special projects.
Elizabeth Coleman, Sodexho, has been appointed
manager of food services at ASU.
Richard Davis, languages, literature, and communication,
had his play The Courtship of Senorita Florabella
published by Drama Source, a major producer of childrens plays.
Eman Hoosain, teacher development, had his article
titled Solving the Mystery of Teaching Mathematics
published in the Fall 2003 issue of Reflections,
a journal published by the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Martin Jones, fine arts, had an article titled
The Piano Music of Andre Previn published in
the Georgia Music Educators Association magazine.
Anthony Kellman, languages, literature, and communications,
recently conducted two sessions titled Writing is Re-Writing
and Caribbean Poets Tuk
Verse at the South Carolina Writers Workshop conference in Myrtle Beach.
He was also a featured poet recently at Georgia Techs annual Bourne Poetry
Reading.
William Nelson, Reese Library, was recently interviewed
by Jackson State Community College in Jackson, TN, for an article titled, Questions
of Importance to Academic Librarians. He also conducted a workshop, Assessment
in the Libraries: Practical Approaches for Creating a Continuous Assessment Environment,
at a preconference to the North Carolina Library Association Conference as well
as Assessment of Reese Library: Practical Application
of the ACRL Standards for Libraries of Higher Education at ASU. He was
also elected to a two-year term on the GALILEO Steering Committee.
Therese Rosier, physical plant, recently presented
a program about ASU at the Exchange Club meeting.
Michael Searles, history and anthropology, recently
delivered a paper on cowboy Bill Pickett at the 2003 Southeastern Cowboy Symposium
at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. He also provided the voice
of a chuck wagon cook in their orientation video.
