Motion picture marketing exec speaks at ASU

A former head of wordwide marketing for Universal Pictures will share his experiences in the motion picture industry in a program on Wednesday, November 10, from 12:30-2 p.m. in N126 Allgood Hall. Mr. Simon Kornblit supervised the marketing of over 100 films including Jurasic Park, Field of Dreams, Scent of a Woman, Kindergarten Cop, Fried Green Tomatoes, Back to the Future, Cape Fear, and Twins. In the free program at ASU, he will discuss star power, creative advertising, and other elements of marketing.

The marketing executive’s program is being arranged by Mr. Stevan Clements, the Cree Walker Distinguished Professor of Communication, who also worked in Hollywood prior to becoming a professor.

“I like the idea of bringing people to campus who have the type of professional experience that is not readily available locally,” says Mr. Clements, who is an Emmy nominated former producer. “It gives the university community the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from the experiences of professionals.”

Mr. Kornblit moved to Georgia from Hollywood. He has served on the Atlanta chapter of the Board of Governors of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Georgia Film, Video, and Music Advisory Commission. He also serves as co-chair of the Advisory Board of the Photo Forum of the High Museum of Art.
