Maxwell Theatre director named

Kelly B. Thomas, former manager of Michigan Technological University’s Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts, has been named director of the Maxwell Theatre at ASU.

In his new position, he is charged with maintaining the theatre, including the scheduling of campus and off-campus events and purchasing equipment.

“The Rozsa Center had excellent productions and worked well with academic departments and administration in scheduling performances, and we hope that in his new position, Mr. Thomas will work more closely with the director of student activities to increase on-campus use of the Maxwell Theatre,” says Dr. Joyce Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students. “We want to welcome Mr. Thomas to Augusta State.”

Mr. Thomas served five years as the business and customer services manager at MTU’s Rozsa Center. Prior to that, he served as the box office coordinator for MTU’s Cultural Enrichment Program and has also served as the box office supervisor at Shubert Performing Arts Center in New Haven, Conn. He is a member of the International Ticketing Association and previously served as chair of the Professional Development Grants Committee.

Mr. Thomas graduated with honors from North Central College in Naperville, Ill., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech, communication, and theatre.
