After four weeks of the campus campaign for A Day for ASU, faculty and staff donations have exceeded its $130,000 goal by raising $146,587. About 81 percent of faculty and staff gave to A Day, including 29 departments that had 100 percent participation. There were three new additions to the President’s Club.
The theme for this year’s campaign was a line from Tennyson, “…I am a part of all that I have met.” Dr. Peggy Ruth Geren chaired the campus campaign for the second year, and in a campus email that gave the total, she said, “I can’t fully express the satisfaction I feel on this last day of the A Day campus campaign… ASU is truly a wonderful place to be.”
The campus drive ended on the day that the community drive kicked off, at the annual President’s Club Luncheon that was held at the Augusta Country Club. Phil Wahl, senior vice president for CSRA Community Banking at Wachovia, is leading the community drive. The overall goal for this year’s A Day campaign is $500,000.
This is the first year that a student A Day campaign has been held.
A Day culminates on Friday, Oct. 12, with the annual Alumni and Friends Barbeque that is held in the Arsenal Quadrangle. A host of other activities during October draw attention to A Day and assist in the campaign to raise friends and funds for the university.
