Public Safety officers participate in Get Carded Day

Get Carded Day

Augusta State University’s Public Safety officers participated in Get Carded Day 2003 on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Get Carded is sponsored by the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network, along with local rape crisis centers, campus groups, and other organizations across the United States.

Local Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services also participated in Get Carded Day and distributed wallet-size cards with information about the National Sexual Assault Hotline, along with tips to reduce the risk of sexual assault.

“We believe it’s the first time we’ve participated in Get Carded Day,” says Lynn Selby, prevention specialist with Rape Crisis. Both Ms. Selby and Charlotte Murton, crisis specialist, say Get Carded Day is a great way to get important information to students.

Public Safety Officer Nancy James distributed flyers with facts and statistics about sexual assault, which she says is important for students to know. Free, confidential counseling is available through the National Sexual Assault Hotline at (800) 656-HOPE.
