Marketing campaign focuses on enhancing image
and visibility
Several years ago, marketing was made one of Augusta State Universitys
strategic initiatives. With a goal of enhancing the image and visibility of ASU,
a committee was formed by public relations director Kathy Schofe, which includes
Katherine Sweeney, registrar and director of admissions, Dan Whitfield, associate
vice president for business operations, Helen Hendee, director of development
and alumni relations, Clint Bryant, director of athletics, Don Howard, associate
professor of economics, Barbara Coleman, professor of marketing, and Debra van
Tuyll, associate professor of communications.
This year, five action groups are being formed to address specific topics. Dr.
van Tuyll is in charge of the internal campaign. She says the focus of the campaign
is to enhance the image that ASU has in the community and on campus.
Dr. van Tuyll says, in the past the university has not focused on the internal
audience of faculty, staff, and students.
We want to give an accurate image of ASU, says Dr. van Tuyll. The
whole idea is to help us develop as professionals and to make Augusta State a
better place to work.
One way the committee will address this is by presenting a series of monthly
programs on issues of dealing with one another in the workplace. The first program
was presented by President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., on Sept. 24. The programs
are held at noon on the last Wednesday of the month in the Towers. They are open
to faculty, staff, and students.

All programs will be held at noon on the third Wednesday of the month in the
