A Day community fund drive kicks off with President's Club Luncheon

President's Club Luncheon
(L to R): Deke Copenhaver, Malisa Copenhaver, Eleanor Flowers, John Flowers, and Candy Widener

As the campus annual fund drive of A Day for Augusta State University ended, the community drive kicked off with the President’s Luncheon September 18 at the Augusta Country Club. At the luncheon, 8 new campus members of the President’s Club were introduced, along with the campus and community chairs for the campaign. Campus chair Michael Searles, associate professor of history, says the campaign exceeded its goal of $105,000 by raising $118,000. The community drive, led by alumnus David (Deke) Copenhaver will seek to raise $275,000—for a total A Day goal of $380,000.

“We’re thrilled with the success of the A Day campaign,” says Ginger Chew, director of annual giving. “The volunteers—specially the two chairs—are committed to its success, and I have no doubt we will reach our goal.”

The A Day campaign closes with a week of activities, culminating on Friday, October 10th, with a campus barbecue.
