Helen Hendee has been named acting vice president for university advancement, effective October 1. Ms. Hendee, a 1970 alumna, was serving as the director of major gifts and alumni relations prior to this appointment. She joined Augusta College in 1985 as director of development and alumni relations a position she held until 1993, when she was asked to serve as acting executive director of development and college relations/vice president of the Augusta College Foundation. In that position, Ms. Hendee was, as she will be again, the chief fundraising executive for the college. Before coming to the university, she worked at Babcock & Wilcox, McDermott International, in Augusta, holding the positions of salary administration and employment manager, assistant manager of personnel administration, and personnel associate. She also served as the director of the student center at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., from 1973-1975. Ms. Hendee earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Augusta College and a master’s degree in student personnel administration in higher education from the University of Georgia. She is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations, among them the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the YMCA/YWCO Family Y, and the CSRA Personnel Association.
