Fine Arts INFORMATION FOR Prospective
Students
|
Ms. Pamela Ferguson-Haggins, temporary instructor of art, has been named as the director of the Fine Arts Gallery. As the director, Ms. Ferguson-Haggins schedules any lectures or workshops in the gallery, writes proposals for the next academic year, and takes care of the artists’ travel arrangements in addition to ensuring the art in the exhibit is properly displayed. “The department wanted someone who could work in the gallery and who taught classes,” she says. “I will teach three this semester, and I wanted the chance to work in the gallery.” Currently, Ms. Ferguson-Haggins is preparing for the first exhibition, which will feature photographs and video pieces by Mr. Gary Wahl and Ms. Anne Barber. The exhibition will run through September 29. Although running the gallery is extremely time-consuming, Ms. Ferguson-Haggins says the process is also rewarding. “I love trying to help people understand art and get an appreciation for it. So anything that relates to that, I’m all for it.” The Charlotte native began teaching at Augusta State University in spring 2005. She received a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham and a master’s degree from Howard University.
