The pavilion commemorates the site of the original clubhouse of the Forrest-Ricker Hotel, the site where golfing legend Bobby Jones began his Grand Slam of Golf in 1930. It retains the stacked stone fireplace and brick flooring of the original clubhouse. Ms. Therese Rosier, director of the Physical Plant, says that the overriding desire for the structure’s design was to maintain the historical connection with the earlier golf house. “We’ve done that, as well as included some historical elements that tie it into ASU’s main campus,” she says. Topping off these historic connections will be the addition of one more link to an earlier time. The large Forest Hills Golf Ball, which identified the course for many years, will be located in a new place of honor near the pavilion. Club Car, which had removed the ball earlier for restoration, will have it ready for installation prior to the ceremony. The event is open to the public. Tickets for the drawing may be purchased at the Forest Hills Golf Course.
