Advisory Council Addresses Projects, Concerns, and Issues of ASU Staff
Augusta
States Staff Advisory Council has kicked off another year with a successful
Back to School Supply Drive for Augusta Child Advocates. The project, which
included a departmental bin-decorating contest, is one of several sponsored
annually by the council.
As a vehicle for projects, concerns, and issues of staff members at the university,
the council has outlined its objectives (which are in its bylaws) for the
coming year: to facilitate communication among staff members; to keep open
lines of communication with the president, the faculty, and the students;
to act as a liaison with the University Systems Staff Council and staffs
of other System institutions; to advance professional growth; to promote social
responsibility and demonstrate concern for all members of the university community,
the community at large, and higher education in general; and to act as an
advocate for staff by bringing their concerns to the attention of the appropriate
body and following through to resolution.
Members of the Staff Advisory Council for 2001-02 include:
Patty Waggy, athletics, Chair
Barbara Stewart, business office, Vice-Chair
Lisa Webb, president's office Secretary
Gayle Adams, computer services
Patricia Braswell, career center
Max Brown, physical plant
Carolyn Cannon, academic affairs
Nicolette DeLoach, computer services
Tim Dobbs, physical plant
Deborah Kilpatrick, physical plant
Lynda Lotz, biology
Hannah Matthews, library
Leon Smith, central office supply
Gina Thurmond, student affairs
The council is very proud of the things we have accomplished over the
past several years, and we are excited about plans for this year, says
Patty Waggy, chair. The council represents all the staff members at
Augusta State, and we are eager to involve everyone in our activities,
she adds.
As a way of keeping the university community informed of council activities
and information, a regular column in the ASU Report is being devoted to the
activities of the Staff Advisory Council. We want to more diligently
pursue our objectives, and we need the support of the university community.
Please feel free to contact me or any council member with your concerns and
ideas, she adds.
