in Philadelphia. He also was elected chair of the Interstate Cooperation Committee
for the Southeastern Library Association.
Bill Bompart, academic affairs, made a presentation at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Eastern Regional Conference in Springfield, Mass., titled Have We Been Misleading Our Students?

Lillian Wan, Reese Library, was named Employee of the Year by the Mayor's Committee for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities. She was nominated by the Augusta Focus newspaper, for which she serves as a writer and photographer. She also has a photograph in the recently published book, An Augusta Scrapbook: Twentieth-Century Memories by Vicki H. Greene, Scott W. Loehr, and Erick D. Montgomery. Lillian's photo is of Augusta astronaut, Lt. Cmdr. Susan Still.
Congratulations to Gina and Robert Thurman on the birth of a son, Zachary Robert, who was born November 1 at University Hospital. Young Zachary weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz.
