Dr. Kimberly Davies Speaks at Fall Commencement

Augusta State University’s fall commencement ceremony is 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Physical Education/Athletic Complex, and the commencement speaker will be Dr. Kimberly Davies, associate professor of sociology. Traditionally, the honor of speaking at December's commencement is given to the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Member Award for the previous year.

Nearly 325 students will cross the podium, some receiving their diploma from a relative. Since the late 1980s, ASU employees with relatives graduating may choose to present them their diplomas.

“It’s a neat program, it lets you see how many people who work here choose to send their children to school here,” said Katherine Sweeney registrar and director of admissions.
