ASU Kicks Off Holiday Season
The
annual Augusta State University holiday tree lighting will be held 6 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 6, adjacent to the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.
Santa Claus, the ASU choir leading favorite holiday carols, and hot chocolate
and cookies will be served to help the crowd get in the holiday spirit.
The tree lighting is a long standing tradition at ASU and a great way
to kick off the holiday season, said Ginger Chew, coordinator of alumni
relations and special events at ASU. The tradition dates back to the 1970s,
she added.
The 40-foot deodar cedar facing Walton Way will be decorated with more than
2,000 lights and be lit nightly through Jan. 1.
