ASU Business College Scores Above National Average

Augusta State University’s College of Business Administration recently released results from a nationally administered test of basic business knowledge, with ASU students ranking in the 85th percentile this year.

The test covers basic knowledge in accounting, marketing, finance, economics, international business, and other areas of study, said Dr. Richard Bramblett, associate dean and director of graduate studies in the College of Business Administration.

The test allows professors to see not only what students know, but also how well they are being taught.

“It allows us to look at the curriculum to see if we’re preparing students well overall,” Dr. Bramblett said. “For instance, several years ago students didn’t do well in the international component, so we added a course in international business and now they are testing in the 95th percentile in that area.”

The test has been given at the end of the fall and spring terms for the past six years, and ASU students have done well compared to other schools that take it each year, he said.
The scores are compared with 388 business schools across the country including such schools as Georgia State University, Indiana State, Louisiana State University, Loyola, Seton Hall, and the University of Nebraska.

The ASU College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, International, a difficult-to-achieve designator that only 30 percent of business schools possess. Each year the college awards about 85 undergraduate degrees in the fields of marketing, management, accounting and finance, as well as about 35 students with degrees in business administration.
