Cullum Lecture Series Kicks Off January 10
The
Cullum Lecture Series, an interdisciplinary program begun more than 20 years
ago to provide students, faculty, and staff access to nationally and internationally
known speakers on a variety of diverse topics, kicks off Jan. 10.
This year's series on mainland China has attracted speakers from around the
nation, including the keynote speaker, Dr. Orville Schell. Schell is dean
of the Graduate School of Journalism at University of California, Berkeley
and the author of nine books on China.
Speakers on architecture, art, literature, medicine, education, political
science, philosophy, and history will make presentations during the semester-long
series. The first presentation is Jan. 10 with Schells keynote address
titled China: Friend Or Foe at 11:30 a.m.,
followed by Tibet and China: A Difficult Marriage,
at 7 p.m.
Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held in Butler Lecture Hall, and
last approximately 75 minutes.
