Tri-College Celebration

Bernice KingBernice A. King will be the guest speaker for this year’s annual Tri-College Celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., January 18, at noon in the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free to the joint program, which is sponsored each year by Augusta State University, Paine College, and the Medical College of Georgia.

King is the youngest daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King. She is a well-known motivational speaker, minister, orator, attorney, and author. USA Today cited her first book Hard Questions, Heart Answers as a Best Bet. In the summer of 2000, she narrated the Lincoln Portrait along with a symphony orchestra in Keil, Germany. She is assistant to the pastor at the Love Center at Greater Rising Star Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA.

King received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Spelman College and master’s of divinity and doctorate of law from Emory University. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and has received training in mediation.
