ASU begins new Master Plan
Ron
Reed, program coordinator in the University System of Georgia's Office
of Facilities, spoke at a meeting in the Towers Dec. 12. He discussed
the beginnings of ASU's new Master Plan. The old plan, developed in 1997,
is nearly fully implemented, and more importantly, campus has almost reached
capacity as defined by the '97 plan, said Kathy Hamrick, special assistant
to the president for academic and master planning.
The new plan will cost an estimated $250,000, the money coming from the
Phase II classroom demolition budget. Before demolition can proceed, plans
for infrastructure needs must be taken into consideration.
The new plan will be drawn up by one of two consultant firms, either The
Architecture Group or the Sizemore Group. Interviews with the two firms
will be held Jan. 9. The plan should be started by Feb. 1 and completed
by August 2003.
