Blanchard Fountain Dedication

More than 150 friends, family, faculty, and staff attended the fountain dedication in honor of Russell Blanchard, a 1928 alumnus of the Junior College of Augusta, on Friday, Dec. 9.

President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., presided over the dedication ceremony in which Joel O. Wooten, Jr., a member of the Board of Regents of the University System, welcomed guests. John Bell, Dr. Blanchard's cousin and vice chairman of the ASU Foundation, also spoke. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. John Bell.

In 1998 the university awarded Dr. Blanchard an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and in 2005 he received the President's Award for the second time. In 2001, he established the Russell A. Blanchard Endowment within the College of Business Administration.

Dr. Blanchard, a 98-year-old retired banker, helped charter the Augusta College Foundation in 1963 and he continues to serve as an active trustee of the foundation.
