The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved a name change for the Department of Sociology at their December board meeting. It will now be called the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work.
"The name change more accurately reflects the complete range of programs within that department," says Robert Parham, dean of the Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences.
The recent addition of the social work program to the department has been exciting not only the faculty and staff, but to the students as well, says Dr. Parham. Seventeen students will graduate with a bachelor of arts in social work this spring.
