Lynda Lotz, administrative specialist in the Department of Biology, is the recipient of the Staff Excellence Award for fall 2005.
Ms. Lotz, who was nominated for the award by one of her co-workers, received the award from the Staff Council. She will receive a plaque and a check for $50.
"I was very surprised. I was shocked," says Ms. Lotz. "I still haven't cashed the check, because if I do it now I'll spend it on others."
The New York native participated in various campus-wide fall activities that included welcoming new employees, serving on the welcoming committee for University Village students, and participating in the Jaguar Activity Board's Casino Night. During her eight years at ASU, she has also served as the departmental representative for A Day for AS and new student orientation.
When she is not busy on campus, Ms. Lotz spends her time playing darts and golf and relaxing by the pool. She is a member of the River Guild, which is a basket-weaving organization.
Ms. Lotz is also a finalist for the Staff Member of the Year award, along with the winter and spring recipients of the Staff Excellence awards. That winner is announced at the annual Employee Recognition ceremony, says Jason Gribek, chair of the staff council. The Staff Member of the Year will receive $1,000.
