Washingtons Receive Augusta Award

Drs. I.E. and Justine Washington, namesakes for ASU's Washington Hall, were the first recipients of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce's newly created honor, the Augusta Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to progress and unity in the Augusta area. Dr. Justine Washington received the award from Congressman Doug Barnard, Jr., at a joint meeting of the chamber and the CSRA Community Foundation. President Bloodworth served as the master of ceremonies. The Washingtons, prior to Dr. Ike Washington's death, were the first living citizens to have a university building named in their honor.
