Winter Gathering of Writers

The 11th Annual Winter Gathering of Writers will bring two well-known authors to campus Wednesday, January 24. Geoffrey Philip and Ann Brandt will present free readings of their works at 7:30 p.m. in A4 Skinner Hall.
Philip is an award-winning Jamaican author of the poetry books, Exodus and Other Poems, Hurricane Center, Florida Bound, and Xango Music. He also wrote a book of short stories, Uncle Obadiah and the Alien, and a novel entitled Benjamin, My Son. Brandt is the author of the 1999 novel Crowfoot Ridge, and she recently completed a second novel, Delgado's Garden. She was a commercial designer for 25 years before giving it up to pursue a writing career.
The free readings by Philip and Brandt are part of an annual conference sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literature, and Communications, and coordinated by Anthony Kellman, associate professor of English.
