Exhibition Features Six ASU Alumni
A new exhibition at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art
will feature six ASU alumni from July 12 through August 10, 2001. The six
alumni artists include Mike Barefield, Troy Campbell, Bettelou Brown, Daniel
Finch, Carissa Doying Cuny, and Teresa Sayers.
Barefield worked with traditional painting and drawing while at ASU. He recently
graduated with his MFA from UNC at Chapel Hill.
Since receiving his BFA, Campbell has served as preparatory in several museums
and galleries and has focused his artwork on mixed media collages.
Brown attended ASU on and off for over a decade, working mainly in ceramics,
and completed one year of graduate work at East Tennessee State. An active
ceramicist, she maintains a studio at her home.
Finch has just completed his MFA at UGA where his work merged painting, photography,
and video.
Cuny is currently working toward a MFA in ceramics at USC in Columbia.
Sayers completed her BFA at ASU this spring with an emphasis in ceramic sculpture
and plans to pursue graduate level studies in ceramics in the near future.
Her work has received honors at the 2001 conference of the National Council
on Education for the Ceramic Arts in the organizations Regional Juried
Student Exhibition.
The opening reception will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on July 12 and is free to members ($5 for non-members).
