SPOTLIGHT:
Hugh M. Hadden
Hugh Hadden, Class of 1975, was
an easy choice for the first alumni spotlight in the Alumni Columns
newsletter. Hugh currently serves as President of the Alumni Association
Board of Directors and was previously Secretary of the Board. In addition
to Hugh’s dedication to his undergraduate alma mater, he is a respected
attorney in Augusta’s legal circles. Upon graduating from the University
of South Carolina Law School in 1978, Hugh served as Staff Counsel for the
United States Senate Judiciary Committee providing legal assistance to Senator
Strom Thurmond. For the next eight years, Hugh practiced general civil law
until becoming an Assistant District Attorney in Augusta.
While serving his eight-year term as an Assistant
District Attorney, Hugh was published in the Criminal Law Newsletter
of the State Bar of Georgia and served as a faculty member for the Basic
Litigation Course of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia.
In 1999, he became a sole practitioner of law and has also worked as an
Adjunct Professor to ASU’s Sociology Department teaching criminal justice
courses since 1997.
Hugh resides in Evans with Bonnie, his wife of 27 years, and two children,
Sarah and Jennifer (ages 16 and 14). His family attends Hill Baptist Church
and Hugh enjoys woodworking and fishing during his spare time. It is important
to note that Hugh gives credit to Augusta College for his luck in meeting
his wife. Hugh and Bonnie met as students while attending Augusta College.
