Strategic
Planning Focuses on Assumptions
The university's strategic plan is being revisited with
a primary focus being placed on its planning assumptions. The current plan,
adopted in 1999, is based on 10 assumptions statements of supposed
fact that include such things as demographic trends, available resources,
institutional and budgetary restraints, and community opinion.
In a meeting of the President's Advisory Council June 26, the charge to "rethink"
the assumptions was given by President William A. Bloodworth, Jr. Following
a breakdown into small groups, the Council reconvened to share its new list
of important facts about the ASU educational environment.
The planning assumptions will be studied and reviewed again at the July 25
meeting of the President's Advisory Council. Members of the President's Advisory
Council include department and office heads, SGA leaders, key faculty committees
and staff council, deans, and vice presidents.
The strategic plan incorporates, usually, a two-year span, and its key elements
are the planning assumptions, university goals, and strategic initiatives.
The strategic plan is posted on the university's website.
