Kierkegaard Conference to be held March 1-3
International
scholars and authors will take part in the Kierkegaard Conference March 1-3
in the Maxwell Performing Arts Center. Ten speakers will make presentations
on various aspects of Kierkegaard's writings, particularly his
Either/Or. A late change in the program has John Llewelyn, one of the
world's most highly regarded philosophers, making a presentation on March 2
at 2:30 p.m., instead of the previously announced speaker, Pat Bigelow. Dr.
Llewelyn is an author and former professor at the University of Edinburgh in
Scotland. He has authored several philosophy books, the most recent being The
Hypocritical Imagination: Between Kant and Levinas. The book on philosophical
imagination is considered among the best and most original work being done within
the European philosophical tradition. Other conference speakers include John
D. Caputo, the David R. Cook Professor of Philosophy at Villanova University;
Roger Poole, University of Nottingham; David Wood, Vanderbilt University; Elsebet
Jegstrup, Augusta State University; Joakim Garff, Soren Kierkegaard Research
Center, Copenhagen; Mark Dooley, University College-Dublin; Robert Gibbs, University
of Toronto; Vanessa Rumble, Boston College; and Richard Kearney, Boston College.
Faculty, staff, and students may attend the conference for free. Contact the
conference coordinator, Dr. Elsebet Jegstrup, for schedule information.
