Robert
Stackhouse, one of the nation's most prominent artists and sculptors, will make
a return visit to Augusta and Augusta State this month. The artist, whose installation
sculpture A-Augusta has been on display for
about two years in front of Payne Hall, will meet with humanities students on
Friday, March 16. He will be at the Morris Museum of Art the following day for
a symposium, Multiple Visions: A Symposium on Contemporary
Printmaking featuring Wayne Kline and Robert Stackhouse, from 9 a.m.
- noon. Stackhouse gained national prominence as a sculptor in the 1970s and
later become known for his large-scale watercolors of ships, serpents, and diverse
architectural forms. Currently, he serves as an artist-in-residence at the University
of Georgia.
