ASU Celebrates Women's Week
Women's
History Month will be celebrated at ASU with a week of activities, March 5 -
9, that has been designated as Women's Week. Representatives of the Women's
Studies program will be in the teardrop each day at 9 a.m. with information
available on the Women's Studies program. Monday through Thursday, visitors
may contribute to a collective poem about women, and on Friday take part in
a quiz that may earn participants a free tee shirt. On Monday and Tuesday, 5th
and 6th, their hours of operation are from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; on Wednesday, 9
- 11 a.m.; and on Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Other activities during
Women's Week include: Monday, the 5th, a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., and a film
at 6 and 8:30 p.m. in Butler Lecture Hall entitled The
Virgin Suicides. On Tuesday, the 6th, at the teardrop, a Goddess Making
Workshop will be held where participants can sculpt their own creations for
free. On Wednesday, the 7th, singer-songwriter Jennifer Daniels will present
two performances in the Fine Arts Center-C1, at 12:30 p.m. and at 1:15 p.m.
At 1 p.m. in Butler Hall 6, a Women's Studies Student Symposium will present
a sampling of work done by ASU students on women's issues. For information about
Women's Week and the Women's Studies program, contact Dr. Sian Mile in the Department
of Languages, Literature, and Communications.
