Career Center hosts teacher expo

Approximately 280 students attended the Teacher Expo, hosted by the Career Center Feb. 15 at the Physical Education Athletic Complex. More than 40 school systems participated, with representatives coming from as far as Wisconsin and Colorado. This job fair was for certified teachers and senior education majors wanting to explore teaching opportunities at school systems, primarily in Georgia.

“Georgia has the highest average teaching salary in the Southeast, an attractive incentive for any
educator across the country who might want to relocate to this region,” said Julie Goley, Career
Center director. “Starting pay for Georgia teachers is $3,000 to $5,000 higher than neighboring
states.

“The expo gave teachers the opportunity to get in front of prospective employers, allowing the
participating school districts to recruit eligible candidates for their openings,” she said.
