Table of Contents ASU honors outstanding students and faculty - Augusta State University's annual Honors Convocation is March 22. Writers conference brings notable authors to ASU - The Sandhills Writers Conference begins March 21 with a keynote address by Jayne Cortez. Career Center hosts teacher expo - More than 40 school systems participated in the expo for certified teachers and senior college students. ASU professor commissioned as Kentucky Colonel - Dr. Louise Rice receives the highest award bestowed by the state of Kentucky. Women's Studies Program celebrates Women's Week - March programs are aimed at increasing awareness of women's issues. Executives visit ASU - More than two dozen top executives from area businesses will address ASU students. ASU student jazz band ensemble and jazz band honor local bandleader - Wayne Hoey of All That Jazz receives send-off performance at ASU. ASU and local institutions collaborate to provide after school workshops - ASU fine arts faculty team with the Morris Museum of Art to teach middle and high school students at Shiloh Comprehensive Community Center. Public Safety officers promote child safety - ASU Public Safety officers speak to Lamar Elementary students as part of child passenger safety awareness week. African American fraternity chartered at ASU - Dr. Samuel Richardson, assistant professor of learning support, directs new student organization on campus. ASU and the Columbia County Board of Education participate in a joint distance learning project - ASU broadcasts, over the Internet, an advanced calculus course from campus to a classroom at Lakeside High. ASU Staff Advisory Council - Officer Nancy James receives Staff Excellence Award for Fall 2002, and new staff recognition campaign to kick off in April.
