		ASU student jazz band ensemble and jazz band honor local bandleader The Augusta State’s Student Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band performed a Send Off Performance in honor of Wayne Hoey of the local band All that Jazz. Rob Foster, professor of music, directed the concert. Mayor Bob Young presented Hoey with a certificate proclaiming Feb. 26 “Wayne Hoey Day.” Brenda Durant, executive director of the Greater Augusta Arts Council was the key speaker. Wayne Hoey, a bandleader and saxophonist was raised in Lynn, Mass. He retired as a musician in the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Through the Greater Augusta Arts Council, Hoey has participated in the Arts in the Heart of Augusta and the Sunday Jazz Series at Riverwalk. He also teaches young saxophonists through private and school clinics.
